About
My name is Chrissy and this journey began in 2007 when I founded On The Scene Training, initially offering CPR/AED and First Aid courses certified by The American Red Cross to our local community. In 2009, during a tattoo consultation at Handmade Tattoo, a conversation about my business led to a request to include Bloodborne Pathogens training. This came shortly after Virginia's Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation introduced new regulations for Tattoo Artists and Body Piercers.
To meet this demand, I expanded our curriculum to include Bloodborne Pathogens training and began teaching at local tattoo shops. Our flexible scheduling allowed us to accommodate the unique hours of tattoo artists.
Our involvement grew further when Exposed Temptations, a local shop, launched a local Tattoo Convention and invited us to provide emergency medical support and certification training onsite. Since then, we've expanded our reach, offering tailored CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens Certification courses at shops, conventions, and other events nationwide.
While trying to educate myself to better educate my children on the dangers of the internet and social media, I discovered that the deeper I delved, the scarier it became. I realized that some dangers were hidden in plain sight, particularly the ease of connecting with unknown people around the world. This led me to become involved more deeply in the anti-trafficking movement where I now partner directly with the National Human Trafficking Training Academy to raise awareness about human trafficking and the role that tattoos can play in the context of trauma-informed care.
Educating others on how to protect themselves and their loved ones is my passion; from CPR, First Aid and Prevention of Communicable Diseases (BBP) training to consulting on trauma-informed care for organizations whose aim is to assist victims and survivors of human trafficking.
